A milder take on the jalapeño, picked dark green or left on the plant to turn bright red. Upright plants tolerate heat and drought and grow well in containers as well as beds.

Growing Guide

• Days to maturity: 65–80 days from transplant

• Sow depth: 1/4 in.
• Spacing: 12–18 in. between plants
• Germination: 7–10 days
• When to sow: Begin seeds inside 7–9 weeks ahead of the last spring frost, and transplant once seedlings reach 6–8 in. tall. Keep hot and sweet peppers apart to avoid cross-pollination.
